Rubbish disposal and collection information for owners & guests
The frequency of collections by the Camara has increased over the summer, and the problem of the bins overfilling has largely been resolved.
However, unfortunately, this does not apply to the recycling collections, which are the responsibility of a private contractor, they have been asked to improve their services, but we are yet to see any significant changes.
To manage and improve this situation, a lot can be also achieved by ourselves as property owners by following a few simple guidelines:
If the bins or recycling containers are overfilling, please avoid dumping rubbish on the pavement next to them. It takes only an extra minute or two to drive to the collection point halfway down the road between the Golf Club and GSA Reception.
This is a large collection point, which hardly ever overfills, and even if it does, it is far away from any properties and out of sight, being screened by a substantial wall.
Let us all take our rubbish there if there is no room left elsewhere (and please request that any guests and tenants do the same).
Please let’s not leave unwanted furniture or large household items or appliances at the collection points. The Câmara won’t collect these. However, GSA provide a free collection service of discarded furniture items and the like from our doorstep, paid for by C&U contributions. Please call GSA Reception on +351 282 690 000 to arrange collection.
Large cardboard boxes and other items that do not fit into the recycling bin openings need to be crashed or dismantled into smaller pieces and then placed inside the recycling bins. This is not always easy to do, but it is still the responsibility of the person disposing of such items. Also, larger plastic bottles need to be crashed and only then put in the recycling bin.
No one else should be landed with this job, so please let’s take our time to do it.
The Câmara won’t collect garden refuse or discarded building materials and rubble either, and the disposal of such items originating from our properties is not the responsibility of GSA. Let’s make sure that no gardening or building contractor employed by an owner dumps anything on their way out of the resort. It is our responsibility as property owners that any such rubbish should be taken out of the resort to be disposed of.
On behalf of everybody in Parque da Floresta, thank you for your cooperation in this matter! If we all follow these guidelines, we can benefit from a cleaner and rubbish-free environment.
